William Goddard: The Coming Revolution in Pharmaceuticals
Beckman Auditorium
- Public Event
A revolution in the development of new pharmaceuticals is coming in which drugs will be designed to minimize side effects, eventually allowing personalized medicines designed to be compatible with the particular genetics of each individual. We will illustrate some of the recent progress with a focus on the cell surface receptors important for mediating physiological responses (receptors for dopamine, serotonin, epinephrine, histamine, etc.) and chemosensory perception (vision, smell, taste, and pain).
William Goddard is Charles and Mary Ferkel Professor of Chemistry, Materials Science, and Applied Physics and Director of Caltech's Materials and Process Simulation Center.
